The Records of Decision (ROD) in respect of all five properties making up the Waterberg development (i.e. Elandsfontein, Dejagersdrift, Newburg, Schrikkloof/Abakhozi and Witfontein/Hoogland) has been received. These approvals followed the Environmental Impact Assessments which were commissioned to ensure specialist studied into various facets of the property, such as geology, ecology, hydrogeology, flood lines, spillways, topography, soils, climatic conditions and cultural heritage, amongst others. The Department of Water and Forestry (DWAF) has issued the development with General Authorisations, copies of which may be viewed by clicking on the attachment below. The final Water Use Licenses are expected in 2009
The DFA Tribunal has approved the development (and the neccessary zoning) and a copy of the Approval document may be viewed by clicking on the attachment below.
Bulk earthworks and construction of the first phase civil infrastructure will be scheduled and contractors are expected to move onto site immediately after the public launch of phase 1 of the development in early 2009.
The driving range, putting and chipping facilities and a couple of the golf holes have already been constructed. The remainder of the construction of the golf course will follow the finalization of the detailed design of same. It is expected that construction will begin in early 2010.
The reconstruction of the existing lodge into the Founder Member Suites has commenced and will be finalised by early 2009.
